BEYOND THE VINES FOR POKÉMON

The Pokémon collection marked the first global venture for the Singapore-based design studio since its inception. Keeping to the brand’s ethos of duality – to create boldly and design simply, the pairing resulted in a collection that combined its utilitarian and colourful visual mediums with the charm of the world of Pokémon.

The collection played on familiar favourites, featuring a curation of 18 styles with designs that paid homage to 06 much-loved Pokémon – Charizard, Eevee, Gengar, Jigglypuff, Mew and Pikachu. These Pokémon were featured on a myriad of pieces in various visual mediums from large prints to clean outlines and woven labels.

The flagship store, the BTV Design Store, was transformed for the launch of this collection. The focal point of the transformation were air conditioner ducts made of galvanised steel, strategically placed to guide customers around while displaying products from the collection. The space was enlivened by studded rubber flooring, adding a splash of colour and texture set amidst plastic strip curtains displaying an array of Poké Balls, and complemented by posters adapted from the brand's digital campaign.

The design studio applied its distinctive colourblocking style to 03 XS Dumpling Bags, each one inspired by a different Pokémon. The brown and cream colourway paid homage to Eevee, the blush and teal palette represented Jigglypuff, and the black and yellow combination was inspired by Pikachu. To complete the look, each bag is labelled with the names of each Pokémon woven on the product label, along with its Pokédex number, height and weight.

The collection also featured the Micro Dumpling Bag in black, a colour that had been frequently requested since the bag’s debut in 2021, adorned with an iconic and well-loved Pokémon. The bag had been designed with a reflective Pikachu print and a Pokémon label on the front pocket for this special edition.

The full collection features unisex T Shirts, glass cups, caps, camp chairs, skate decks and bags including the Canvas Carryall 01, 03 and the well-loved Dumpling Bags.
